Warren Lake

Just back from several days hiking in the eastern half of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This image is from the Warren Lake trail.

I had a brand new Canon G15 with me. This wasn’t a “photography” trip, so the camera didn’t get a real work-out but I did get familiar with it. The handling is very nice. There are two customizable settings (C1 & C2), which I programmed as my own “snapshot” and “serious” modes. I used the camera’s single programmable button to switch the ND filter in and out and set the dial on the back to choose from the available aspect ratios. This allowed quick access to my most important settings.

The biggest lesson from the trip – resist the temptation to use that fast lens wide open. It really does need to close down about one stop to get good quality in the corners.
